Bieganski the Brute Polak Stereotype on YouTube

Here is a video of me talking about Bieganski the Brute Polak Stereotype.

  1. I have listened to the presentation. I think that you make good points about Poles and Jews, in conversation, being in a minefield--in much the same way that a white and black, in conversation, is in a minefield.

I also think that you make a good observation about the fact that no amount of contrary evidence is able to shake, many of those who are steeped in the Bieganski stereotype, out of it.

  2. Thanks for watching. I think Lukasz will do the Polish translation.

  3. Hello Dr. Goska,

The option of adding translations by YouTube users is turned off, so I can't add translation. Only movie's owner can change settings.

  4. Very well-structured and well-presentenced. Just a nit on my part but wanted to offer it for consideration. At 1:05 in the video, listeners are told that your work, Bieganski, is about anti-Semitism. Although not stated in the video, Bieganski is also about anti-Polonism. As your work argues, Jews work hard to maintain the Bieganski stereotype.

Gene, I think that is obvious in the video.

  5. Hello,

Today for the first time Poland is celebrating National Remembrance Day of Poles saving Jews under the German occupation.
It is also an anniversary of the murder in Markowa.

  6. A very engaging and informative lesson on Bieganski--and history. Great selection of photos and visual aids. Your soothing and compassionate voice fills the viewer with a sense of hope. Thank you for doing this!
