The Times Cartoons Were *Not* Anti-Semitic: Reader Assessment
Anyone addressing stereotyping must be able to say, in concrete, objective language, why a given joke or movie or song or dance or other cultural product is objectionable. Because plenty of viewers will not see what you see, and will say, "Hey, that's not racist at all." The consensus of NYT readers in response to Bret Stephens' column appeared to be "The cartoon was not anti-Semitic."
And of course many have insisted to me that nobody stereotypes Poles.
