Yes I know it's not Hanukkah, but I find both of these photos very moving for different reasons, and I've been wanting to post them for a while.
The problem of rights of children may be complicated. Recovering of children may hurt, both children and foster parents. Many Polish children were kidnapped by Germans and later reurned to their biological, extremely poor families, they were not always happy there. Professor Marcin Zaremba has researched Poland shortly after the war. Jewish organisations recovered children from Polish families, sometimes orphans. I do not know accounts of the Jewish children, but many Poles did not accept the recovery and believed some conspiracy theories. I hope that the children were really happy. Has someone interviewed them?
