  1. Good article.

President Ronald Reagan had been a true friend of Poland. I wish there was another like him.

  2. Thanks for the post. I read some time ago that the US helped Solidarity defeat Communism; however, I didn’t see any details. Filip Mazurczak’s review of Seth G. Jones’s new book provides specifics and serves as another example of the little-known bond between the US and Poland.

Mazurczak also mentioned Kukliński. I recommend Benjamin Weiser’s book on Kukliński entitled “A Secret Life: The Polish Officer, His Covert Mission, and the Price He Paid to Save His Country”.

    1. Weiser's book is excellent. It is obvious that Poland was to be consigned to annihilation in the event of a Soviet invasion of Western Europe:

  4. There exists opinion, that AFL-CIO helped Solidarity more than Reagan. I'm not an expert in the subject.

    1. Of course!

AFL-CIO is an international union after all.

      And unions stick together.

  5. I enjoyed reading this article. Insightful — except for the conclusion.
