A Muslim neighborhood in London was home to an anti-Semitic mural right out of the Nazi playbook.
You can read more about his hideous mural here.
You can read more about the anti-Semitism scandal in England any number of places; it is all over the news right now. Just one article is here.
I think that what we are seeing is the revenge of unintended consequences. For the longest time, the accusation of anti-Semitism has been used as a club to intimidate into silence virtually any legitimate criticism of Jewish conduct. Thus, the accusation of anti-Semitism has long been so overused that now real anti-Semitism scarcely elicits a yawn. Nobody pays attention to the boy who keeps crying wolf, and now he is faced with a real wolf.
ReplyDeleteAs for Jews in finance, Jewish historian Derek Penslar, in his JEWS AND THE MILITARY, condemns the anti-Semitic trope that posits that Jewish bankers finance both sides, and egg them on to go to war with each other so as to profit from the warfare. However, he is candid about the fact that, "Revulsion against hateful stereotypes should not blind us to the sizable presence of Jews in finance and business who made money from war…It is a fact, not an anti-Semitic fantasy, that Jews played vital roles in coordinating the allocation of raw materials during the First World War, not only in Germany but also in the United States.” (p. 145, 150).

Jan, I posted your message, but I disagree with it, in tone and in content.
DeleteI don't have time to detail my every objection to what you wrote, but I can at least say this.
There is much talk of antisemitism because there is much antisemitism. It's not a case of boy crying wolf.
And Jews made money from war? Give me a break. That's all I can say.
I won't debate this with you because I have a life and I don't have all day to refute your comments, but I had to at least say this much. For that reason, my desire not to have to rebut what you post, I won't post any follow ups from you. You've had your say and you've posted your link.
Yet you provide a forum for Jan's Judeophobic slanders? This does not seem to coincide with the idea of your blog...Why provide a forum for this hater to have his say?
DeleteSpecifically, you claim you will not post comments in which "You keep repeating the same things over and over and over again." Isnt that what Jan P keeps doing?
DeleteThis was in October 2012.
ReplyDeleteThe well-known artist, an American, uses the soubriquet 'Mear One'.
It purported to be an anti-banker statement (the worlds most important financial centre, The City, is nearby).
The Mayor of Tower Hamlets, a Muslim, ordered its immediate removal.
