Creepy. Read the story here.

Evidently many who study Jack the Ripper are not convinced. Read more here.

  1. Hey, Jan Peczkis' Goodreads account was recently deleted. I'm not making this up, this is serious. What is the world coming too?

    1. Can you supply any support for this assertion?

    2. Arthur, you beat me to the punch.

Yes, it is true. GoodReads just took down all my reviews just as Amazon did last July.

    3. I am so sorry to hear this. This is wrong. I don't agree with you at times but this level of censorship is outrageous. Did they give you a reason?

    4. I don't agree with Jan on many things either too Danusha but what Goodreads has done to Him is inexcusable. I also don't agree with you on some things either Ns. Goska but that's no excuse for censorship.

  2. It was the same vague pretext as by Amazon--about violating some guidelines. Here is the canned message I got (short and sweet--not):

    Hi Jan,

Your account was recently brought to our attention. Upon review, we have determined that it violated our Terms of Service, and we have removed it from the site. A CSV of the books you shelved is attached for your personal records. You are banned from using Goodreads going forward.

    Sincerely,

    The Goodreads Team

    2. Jan did you write the piece linked below that is attributed to you? If so, do you think that this is why Amazon and Goodreads deleted your posts? Jan if you wrote this, how can Polonia support you?

    3. Absolutely not.

You notice that my name appears below, not as author of the article, but in reference to a link to something else.

  3. I’ve always found Jan’s reviews to be highly informative. His herculean efforts in reading, analyzing, and summarizing the thousands of books he has digested have long provided a valuable instructional service to many. I’d like to ask if Jan is considering using a different platform from which he can continue sharing his work.
