"Polish? No Wonder You Are So Stupid." Sid Rosenberg, WABC Morning Host

On September 15, 2022, on his very popular WABC morning talk show, host Sid Rosenberg said to a man who self-identified as Polish, "You're Polish? No wonder you are so stupid."

  1. If Poles had political power, he would not be saying that.

  2. WOW! And Jan I think had Poles been given PC protection or Woke Status (or whatever the expression is this week), he would not have dared say that in a million years. And isn't it the powerful who decide who is "uber" and who is "unter"?

This Sid Rosenberg, who clearly has a powerful enough position within the world's media, is using it to make clear that I, as a Polonian, am on the "unter" page.

In shining contrast, within the congregated people of the God of Abraham I feel so valued, so appreciated, so cared for. We all do. And Jehovah is inviting every one to come to him, and to be loved and valued and taught and helped too.

    Thanks for posting this Danusha.

Do we have a contact for him and for his Station? I guess actually I could find it on Google.

    1. Well that is what happens if you get careless and forget who is a safe target and who is not.

In contrast, the right thing is to follow the Golden Rule, which teaches us to treat everyone with the same courtesy and kindness we would want for ourselves. That way you don't have to worry about who the world has put on the "unter" page!

  4. Post-WW2 criminality in Poland was extremely high. An academic book "Wielka trwoga. Polska 1944-1947" by Marcin Zaremba describes the terrible situation in post-war Poland, the book has not been translated into English. The Germans and Soviets either murdered or demoralized pre-war policemen, so both London and the Communists hated the Blue police, dissolved by the Communists and replaced by inept Milicja Obywatelska. One of popular crimes was attacking passenger trains, plundering and murdering their passengers, Some Jewish authors decibe the post-war criminality as anti-Semitic, but the prroblem was much bigger. Only recently crimes committed near Preworsk are being studied, two documentaries produced and a book will be published tomorrow. https://czarne.com.pl/katalog/ksiazki/las-zbliza-sie-powoli

    1. From the Jagiellonian University and its research arm?

I know Ms Cavanagh - she was one of Szymborska's translators.

That whole SHADOW OF EMPIRES concept has me think of Ryszard Kapuncinski [and his translator Artur D - or rather biographer].

Got to the part about Poland's early and late colonial experience.

[the bit where Poles were excluded from that binary First World - Third World analysis.

I am always reminding people that Poland is NOT a Third World country - not now

Third Republic since 1989, yes. Third World - no].

      Early - the coloniser

      Late - the colonised.

      [cutting through today].

    2. Was Poland a coloniser? Ruthenia, now Ukraine, was a part of Grand Duchy of Lithuania and decided to join the Kingdom. It was obviously decision of the Ruthenian gentry, not of the peasants, but who cared about peasants at that time? The gentry Polonized, which produced ethnic division. I do not know Western history, but are Catalonia or Provence regarded as colonies? Scotland? Polish nobles in Russian Ukraine opressed poor nobles, so the division was social, not only etnic and religious. Polish nobles in whole Poland opressed all peasants, many of them Polish, which was one of the reasons of the division of Poland. The peasansts starved in Galicia under Austria and some of them were hungry in Poland 1918-1939. The peasants were the most poor and oppressed group in Poland, not the Jews.

  10. Iran's President want to investigate the Holocaust https://twitter.com/StateSEAS/status/1571868276187176963 He should read several books at the beginning. Any Holocaust research is welcome, but only highly educated historians are able to do it. How many Irani people read Yiddish? None?

  12. How to stop the lies? Engelking and Grabowski have been sued by an old woman whose uncle had been defamed, not by the state. The IPN law has nott been used. https://yetagainuk.com/poland-holocaust-distortion/ "there is evidence of Jewish residents being ‘rounded up and killed mostly in public, with either silent or passive or even active collaboration’ from local populations." The words "by Germans" perished. New numbers - not 200 000, but 130 000 - 180 000, also unsupported by any research.

  13. Orli Vogt-Vincent won an Anne Frank contest in 2013, when she was 13. She was overloaded when she was 16 (The Guardian). Now she is 22, a fourth-year History and Modern Languages undergraduate at the University of Cambridge, with a focus on Holocaust Studies and she is unable to write several lines using reliable sources. Her anti-Polish diatribe is based on "Neighbors" by Gross and two texts by Jan Grabowski - "Hunt for the Jews" and the 55 minutes speach https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUyxWTwhlws

  14. Please explain to me because I don't understand. Why is it possible in the United States for someone on TV to say to another person "you're stupid because you're Polish"?
I live in Poland. I don't remember that on Polish television it was possible to tell to someone that they are stupid. And certainly not: "You are stupid because you are .... German, French, Jewish, American or xxx "
